Another Dull Progress Report

Just a quick update on the administrative stuff.
It’s now been 11 days since my last laser session. This one was remarkably painless–not in the sense that the actual session didn’t hurt, because it actually gets worse every time, but in the sense that the aftermath was considerably less brutal than what has been customary. Well, there are a lot fewer live hair follicles to pimple up as they die. I had the session on Friday the 15th (half senseless with a poorly medicated fever, which was no fun), and spent the weekend in solitude. The following Monday, I was back at work in Bodil mode, and while my makeup didn’t quite cover up the swollen follicles of my dying moustache that week, the dreaded pimples only made a half-hearted and quickly remedied appearance. I’m back to normal this week, anxiously waiting for the remaining hairs to actually start falling out. I’ve found a total of three hairs still growing, so this session must be considered a triumphant success.
Then there’s the matter of the name change. I spoke, this weekend, to a friend of mine who got married and changed her surname, and learned that she mailed her application only a few days before mine–and she got a confirmation this Friday. Hopefully, then, I’ll be hearing something from the government very soon. I learned that they actually mail the confirmation letter to your new name, so today I put up a new sign on my mailbox, which includes both my names. Like the actual mailing of the application, this too made me giggly–it felt very liberating, even though my old name is still there.
Now, I wait, and prepare myself for a quarrel about documentation from psychiatrists…
